Ellington defeats Hitt
By George Jared
JONESBORO — An Internet glitch may have prevented Scott Ellington from declaring victory in Tuesday night’s primary election for 2nd Judicial District prosecutor, but it didn’t stop him from winning the race.
Ellington, a deputy prosecutor in Craighead County, defeated his opponent, attorney Curtis Hitt of Paragould, 53-47 percent. Unofficially, Ellington received 15,853 votes, while Hitt garnered 14,222, according to figures obtained by The Sun. Vote totals still have to be certified by the state.
“I’m so happy the voters of the 2nd District decided I would be the right guy to be the prosecuting attorney,” Ellington said.
